    As a youth I spent so much time doing detention in the library that the librarian eventually showed me how to reshelf books. “What a nice man,” I thought, “letting me do this when he could be doing it himself.” Now as a librarian I find it one of my tasks to figure out how to get others to do that task. Life is a strange and wonderful place to live.
