Dottie: a film screening

March 23, 2021

Please join filmmaker Dandan Liu and the family of Dottie Montoya for a very special screening of the powerful and moving documentary short film, Dottie, this Friday, March 26 at 7:00 pm on Zoom.

Dottie is about Dottie Montoya, an 86 year old matriarch from Velarde, New Mexico, a breast cancer survivor, a pioneer in bringing reproductive healthcare to youth in New Mexico, and an elder beloved by her community.  This film was shot one year before she passed, in which she shares her early memories and leaves the younger generation with her last words of wisdom.  In the words of her son, Daniel Montoya, this "gentle" film is "healing" and is more of a "visual poem" than a documentary.

The 13-minute film will be briefly introduced by Dandan Liu and will be followed by a question and answer session with Dandan and the family.

Hosted by the Embudo Valley Library.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
