Axle Contemporary/Radio Tomada Project

Radio Tomada is a co-production of Axle Contemporary and SITE SANTA FE, and is part of SITE’s SITE’s 12th International, Once Within a Time, curated by Cecelia Alemani.

Axle Contemporary is a mobile artspace -founded in 2010 by artists Matthew Chase-Daniel and Jerry Wellman- and built in a retrofitted 1970 aluminum bread truck.

RADIO TOMADA is a mobile radio broadcast platform, housed in the Axle Contemporary mobileartspace in summer of 2025. RADIO TOMADA stopped at Embudo Valley Library during the Summer Reading Program on July 12th, 2025. It is a project created by artist Autumn Chacon to explore free expression, safe space, community, reflection, and the power of free speech. We engaged with the intention of providing an interactive space for all interested community members to participate, and to add the resulting audio materials to our archive as an acoustic snapshot of our community at this time.

Autumn Chacon is a Diné/Xicana activist, community organizer, agriculturist and multimedia and performance artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

These interviews were conducted outside the Embudo Valley Library on Saturday July 12th, 2025.
