Read on the job!
The Embudo Valley Library relies on volunteers to accomplish its mission, providing daily library service and programs to rural residents. Annually, over 900 volunteer hours are contributed to the library. Our main volunteer position involves a 4 hour weekly shift, greeting people, helping with searches, checking items in and out, and shelving. This allows staff to work on other projects such as cataloging, or program development.
We also have more specialized tasks we need volunteer help to accomplish. If you are interested in volunteering for the library please call 505-579-9181 to schedule a time that works best for you. Thank you!
Like many public libraries, we have limited space. However, we are happy to receive your donation of recent, high quality books. Please bring them into the library so we can sort them.
- Newer books in good condition will be added to the collection if they seem to fit our demographic.
- Older books, duplicate copies and most paperbacks will be sold to make money for the library.
- Please bring DVDs into the library for librarians to review.
- You can leave magazines on the magazine area of the Front Porch Book Sale.
- Please, no textbooks, encyclopedia sets, damaged books or VHS tapes.
- Please do not leave boxes of books when the library is closed.
Please call first if you have a large donation of 3 or more boxes, rare, specialty, or vintage books or non-book items such as maps, software, or puzzles. Thank you for your generosity!
Our Front Porch Book Sale, in front of the library, operates on the honor system. Please place cash in provided envelopes and drop in the green book drop box. No need to record book titles or amounts on the envelopes. Proceeds from the book sale support the library's core operations. Thank you for your generosity!
